Origami Tessellations

Tessellations are known as designs that are placed together without gaps between them. You might see tessellations in brick or pavement. Origami Tessellations are not created separately. One large piece of paper is used when they are created.

To make an Origami Tessellation you take one piece of paper and fold it in such a way that patterns are created. There are a couple of different ways to do an Origami Tessellation and there are books you can purchase to learn out to make them.

Origami Tessellations are very detailed and take a lot of time and patients to make. When they are complete, they are beautiful and very interesting to look at. Most times these designs are completely flat. When you look at them or put them into the light, they could appear to be three dimensional. This look will depend on the design on the paper or the designs within the folds.

Origami Tessellations are fun to make and you can use many different types of paper. Be creative when you make these types of Origami pieces.
