Helping Children Learn Origami
Children love the art of origami; the thought of creating little creatures or airplanes out of a simple piece of paper can be a huge draw. Children are naturally curious and usually like to figure out how things work. This is why origami is the perfect hobby for them to participate in.
So where and how do you get your child started in making origami? First off, you as the parent should learn how to make origami as well. Children will be more interested in learning if they see how enjoyable it is to you, plus once you learn you can help teach. Also, with the state of the current economy, origami is also a very economical hobby costing little to no money if you use paper around your home.
You can find simple origami designs online. There are hundreds of websites that offer simple instructions as well as printable pages. You can also find instructional videos online that will walk you through step by step in how to make the designs. This is sometimes the easiest way to learn for both child and parent because you can stop the video if you get stuck.
There are also many forums online where people post about origami creations and this is helpful because you get a personal view from someone who has done it. You could also post on the forum that you need easy designs or help making something and you will receive replies from those who have the expertise to help you.
If you want information at your fingertips that cannot be found online, you could try your local library, or a bookstore for books or magazines on making origami. Craft stores and art supply stores will also have entire kits dedicated to origami that come with all of the supplies you need to make it.
